Lubrication or Turbine Oil Handling Plant

Lubrication/Turbine oil filtration system

The turbine oil purification system reduces the free and dissolved moisture in the lubricating/turbine oil to acceptable level for re-use. The turbine oil purification system is capable of processing the lubricating oil on less than two (2) passes basis at rated flow to the following specification:

  • Free water : 100% reduction
  • Moisture content : Less than 50 PPM
  • Filtration : Not more than 1 micron

An Oil Handling Plant plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of turbine and lubrication oils, which are essential for the smooth operation of turbines and other machinery. Proper handling, storage, and purification of these oils are vital to maintaining their quality and extending the lifespan of both the oil and the equipment it serves. The Oil Handling Plant by CBS Energy is designed to address these needs comprehensively, providing a complete solution that ensures the oil remains in excellent condition throughout its use.

Comprehensive System for Oil Management
The Oil Handling Plant is specifically engineered to manage large quantities of turbine and lubrication oil. This system is ideal for industries that rely on turbines and other heavy machinery where maintaining the purity and quality of the oil is crucial. The plant consists of several key components, each designed to perform a specific function within the overall system. These components include a Lubrication Oil Filtration Plant, an Oil Transfer Pump, and an Oil Storage Tank.

Lubrication Oil Filtration Plant
At the core of the Oil Handling Plant is the Lubrication Oil Filtration Plant. This system is responsible for filtering and purifying both new and used lubrication oils, ensuring that they are free from contaminants that could cause wear or damage to machinery. The filtration plant is typically skid or trolley-mounted, making it easy to transport and position within an industrial setting. The filtration process involves the removal of particulates, water, and other impurities, restoring the oil to a condition that meets or exceeds industry standards. By keeping the oil clean, the Oil Handling Plant helps to reduce maintenance costs, minimize equipment downtime, and extend the life of both the oil and the machinery.

Oil Storage Tank
The Oil Storage Tank is another essential component of the Oil Handling Plant. This tank is designed to store large quantities of lubrication or turbine oil, ensuring that there is always a ready supply of clean oil available for use. The tank is horizontally mounted on wheels, making it easy to move as needed. It is equipped with inspection manholes and gauge glasses, allowing for easy monitoring of the oil level and condition. Additionally, the tank can be provided with suitable saddles, enabling it to be securely rested on the ground after being removed from the trolley. All tank vents are fitted with dehydrators to prevent the entry of moisture, which can degrade the quality of the oil. To ensure the integrity of the storage tank, it undergoes vacuum testing and leakage testing, ensuring that the oil remains secure and uncontaminated during storage.

Oil Transfer Pump
The Oil Transfer Pump is a key component of the Oil Handling Plant, facilitating the efficient movement of oil between storage tanks, filtration units, and machinery. This pump is of the vacuum-tight positive displacement gear type, which ensures that oil is transferred smoothly and efficiently without the risk of leaks. The pump features a horizontal driving shaft that is directly connected to its electric motor via a flexible coupling, ensuring reliable operation. Depending on the specific needs of the operation, the transfer pump can be mounted on castor wheels, pneumatic wheels, or a skid, providing flexibility in its placement and use. Additionally, the pump is equipped with a pressure relief valve, which protects it against excessive pressure that may occur due to throttling in the discharge line. This safety feature ensures that the pump operates reliably and reduces the risk of damage or downtime.

Advanced Features for Enhanced Performance
The Oil Handling Plant by CBS Energy is designed with a range of advanced features that enhance its performance and reliability. One of these features is the inclusion of dehydrators on all tank vents, which effectively prevent the ingress of moisture. Moisture is one of the primary contaminants that can degrade lubrication and turbine oils, leading to reduced performance and potential damage to machinery. By preventing moisture from entering the tanks, the Oil Handling Plant helps to maintain the oil’s purity and extend its usable life.

Another important feature of the Oil Handling Plant is its ability to be customized to meet the specific needs of different industrial applications. CBS Energy offers various customization options, such as the ability to choose between skid-mounted or trolley-mounted systems, different types of wheels for the transfer pump, and additional safety features like pressure relief valves. These options allow operators to tailor the Oil Handling Plant to their unique operational requirements, ensuring optimal performance and ease of use.

The Importance of Proper Oil Handling
In industrial settings where turbines and heavy machinery are in constant operation, the quality of the lubrication and turbine oils used can have a significant impact on the performance and longevity of the equipment. Contaminated oil can lead to increased wear and tear on components, resulting in more frequent maintenance, higher operational costs, and a greater risk of equipment failure. By investing in a high-quality Oil Handling Plant, industries can ensure that their oils remain clean and effective, reducing the overall cost of ownership and improving the reliability of their machinery.
